The Mississippi River is on Anoka's southern border. The Rum River flows through Anoka, flowing into the Mississippi River. Hwy 10 runs east and west through Anoka, and Hwy 169 runs north and connects with Hwy 10 heading west. Anoka has the "small town" feel, but with the newer developments in Coon Rapids to the east, people shop at the fancy new stores than downtown Anoka where most shops close early. Eventful Town

Anoka has a great classic car show every Saturday night all summer long. The historic downtown adds an extra special touch to the atmosphere, as do several excellent eating establishments housed in landmark buildings along Jackson Street. This is a must-see event for anyone going to the Twin Cities area. They shut down Main Street for the annual Halloween Parade. It's a big deal. Bountiful Recreation Activities 

Anoka can include water sports like boating, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing to its other numerous opportunities as a river community. Trails, athletic fields, parks, open space, an outdoor aquatic center, and a senior center are all encompassed in Anoka's park system. For a city smaller less than 6 square miles, Anoka provides some unique recreation opportunities for its residents, such as archery deer hunting, waterfowl hunting, groomed cross country ski trails, and much more!
